Kafka's the Burrow

Directed by Jochen Alexander Freydank (2014)

A solitary creature has spent its entire existence constructing and maintaining an elaborate underground tunnel system, convinced that the labyrinthine burrow offers perfect protection from unnamed external threats. As the animal obsessively patrols its passages and stockpiles provisions, it becomes increasingly tormented by a mysterious hissing sound whose source it cannot locate. The creature's mounting paranoia blurs the line between rational vigilance and self-destructive anxiety, as it wrestles with whether the perceived danger comes from outside or from within its own mind.
