A blind French girl and a young German soldier find their fates intertwined during the Nazi occupation of a coastal town in the Second World War. Marie-Laure, guided by her father's care and a treasured radio, must evade the dangers closing in around her, whilst Werner, a gifted but conflicted radio technician serving the Reich, begins to question his allegiances. Their paths converge around a legendary gemstone believed to carry a terrible curse, and both must make choices that will determine whether they survive the war's brutal final chapter.
