A former CIA analyst named Jack Ryan witnesses an IRA assassination attempt on a British royal and intervenes, killing one of the attackers. The dead man's brother vows revenge and begins targeting Ryan and his family, turning a political conflict into a deeply personal one. Ryan is drawn back into intelligence work in order to protect his loved ones and confront the threat directly.
