Vlny

Directed by Jiři Madl (2024)

A young journalist joins Czechoslovak Radio in the 1960s and becomes caught up in the reformist spirit that defines the Prague Spring, working alongside colleagues who push for greater freedom of expression on air. As Soviet-led forces invade in 1968 and crush the liberalisation movement, the broadcasters struggle to maintain an independent voice against overwhelming political and military pressure. The film explores both the personal costs faced by those who resist and the broader tragedy of a society's hopes being violently extinguished.

This is an independent production, one of the many real-world projects enCAST members bring their talent to. Note that enCAST was not involved in its casting unless otherwise stated; the actors listed below have added this credit to their own profile.
