A Cuban-American attorney known as "Dr. Polo" presides over a courtroom arbitration programme in which ordinary people bring their real-life disputes, family conflicts and personal grievances before her for resolution. Cases typically involve domestic disagreements, inheritance battles, relationship breakdowns and allegations of misconduct, with Dr. Polo delivering blunt, no-nonsense judgements. The show blends elements of a traditional court programme with talk-show drama, and proved enormously popular with Spanish-speaking audiences across the United States and Latin America.
