An elderly German veteran sets off on an impulsive and unauthorised road trip across Eastern Europe, determined to revisit a place connected to his wartime past. His granddaughter pursues him, and the journey forces both of them to confront long-buried truths about his actions during the Second World War. The film balances tenderness and moral reckoning as their relationship is tested by what gradually comes to light.
