A washed-up basketball scout working for a Philadelphia NBA team discovers a gifted but rough-around-the-edges Spanish player whilst travelling abroad and becomes convinced he has found a future star. Bypassing the official draft process, he brings the young man back to America and stakes his own reputation on getting him signed. The film follows both men as they fight to prove themselves to a sceptical sporting establishment.
