Kreuzweg
Directed by Dietrich Brüggemann (2014)
A devoutly religious teenage girl, raised in a strict Catholic traditionalist household, struggles under the crushing weight of her faith's demands as she prepares for her confirmation. Increasingly at odds with the secular world around her, she makes a dramatic private sacrifice in the hope of saving her mute younger brother. The film unfolds in fourteen static tableaux, mirroring the Stations of the Cross, and offers an unflinching portrait of religious extremism within a family setting.
