Song Of My Mother
Directed by Erol Mintas (2015)
A young Kurdish man living in Istanbul is forced to confront his cultural roots and family history when his elderly grandmother, who speaks no Turkish, comes to live with him. Caught between the modern urban world he inhabits and the traditional Kurdish heritage she represents, he struggles to bridge the gulf between generations and languages. The film uses their relationship to explore themes of identity, displacement, and the fragility of cultural memory.
