Johanna
Directed by Kornel Mundroczo (2005)
A young woman named Johanna is brought to a hospital after a drug overdose, and following her recovery she begins working there as a nurse. The film takes on an almost mythical, operatic quality as Johanna performs miraculous healings on patients, while also embarking on a passionate and transgressive love affair. The story unfolds largely through sung dialogue, blending elements of medieval religious allegory with a raw, contemporary setting.
