A widowed Roman man with two grown sons enters a relationship with a divorced woman who has children of her own, forcing their very different families to merge under one roof. The series follows the everyday comedies and conflicts that arise as the blended household attempts to function, with the children's rivalries and the couple's relationship tested at every turn. Set against a warmly depicted working-class Roman backdrop, the show became one of Italy's most popular family comedies of its era.
