A group of students at Brakebills, a secret college for magic, continue adjusting to their new lives whilst navigating the dangers posed by a mysterious and malevolent entity known as the Beast. Quentin and his fellow students begin exploring their individual magical abilities, with some struggling more than others to master the discipline required. Meanwhile, Julia pursues her own path into magic outside of Brakebills through an underground network of self-taught practitioners.
