A Bologna detective who specialises in finding missing persons becomes obsessed with the mysterious suicide of her younger sister, which occurred sixteen years earlier. She uncovers a series of video diaries her sister left behind, which gradually reveal the truth about her troubled past and the circumstances surrounding her death.
