Sancaka, a boy abandoned by his parents during a workers' uprising in Jakarta, grows up alone on the streets and learns to suppress his empathy in order to survive. As an adult, he gains electrical superpowers after a freak accident and is reluctantly drawn into a violent conflict when a ruthless warlord plots to destabilise Indonesia by engineering a famine and exploiting the poor. Forced to confront his past and embrace a sense of responsibility, Sancaka dons the identity of Gundala to protect the innocent and take on the conspiracy threatening the nation.
