La Grande Bellezza (The Great Beauty)

An ageing Roman socialite and journalist, having long since abandoned his youthful ambitions as a serious writer, drifts through the decadent parties and hollow conversations of Rome's privileged elite. Haunted by a lost love from his youth and increasingly aware of his own mortality, he wanders the city's ancient streets and ruins in search of something transcendent. The film unfolds as a dreamlike meditation on beauty, time, and the gap between the life one imagined and the life one actually lived.
