Casting Overview

Smofa Teater is holding auditions for the first musical-show ever in Sweden and is calling for Swedish-speaking actors who can act and play instruments (Muso-Actor/ Actor-Muso/ Acrobat-Muso).

The show is a unique comedy-circus-rock-musical based in the 1970ies/1980ies about the (Swedish) working class in the countryside and the (Swedish) heavy industry.

It is based on a new script, by multiple award winner Kolja Schallenberg and original music by the international newcomer Simon Swahnström and the skills of each performer.

SOT - Rock’n’gjut will be playing from end of June to end of August 2024 in Forsvik (Sweden).

The rehearsals and show will take place in the Smofa theatre based in an industrial theatre building (indoor) in Forsvik, located in the Swedish countryside of historical Skaraborg, half way in between Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Payment:

After agreement on negotiation for rehearsals and per show
(average wage for every cast member including competitive pay)
Paid expenses (costumes, make up, shoes, etc)
Paid accommodation
Paid travel
Additional benefits as organized tours, BBQs, get togethers, etc.

Auditions
1st round will be held based on the showreels you are sending
2nd round will be a digital- or a real-life-meeting in October or November 2023 depending on the applicants residence.

2nd round auditions will be held just after invitation. For the 2nd round we might ask you to prepare songs and texts from the original musical.

Payment Details The payment for the performers will be based on the Swedish collective agreement for actors and musicians The payment details mentioned here are that after agreement on negotiation for rehearsals and per show the cast members will be paid an average wage including competitive pay as well as expenses for costumes make up shoes etc They will also be provided with paid accommodation and travel as well as additional benefits such as organized tours BBQs and get togethers For acrobats they can choose to live in their own caravan or use the theatre accommodation

We are looking for professional musical theatre artists, singers, actors, musicians and acrobats with excellent skills and preferably an excellent singing voice (yet everybody MUST play at least one instrument on professional level) for main roles with different focus in the all the disciplines. Requirements: Professional training (please state what, where and when in your CV) Professional onstage experience with strong voice, excellent performing style and instrument technique Strong stage presence, excellent interpretation skills and ability to move the audience Preferably ability to play several different characters within acting and acting through music/ song Ability to work as part of a team and orchestra (obligatory) Stage language is Swedish (working language might be English due to international ensemble) European resident and/or European passport. Instruments we are looking for Drums/ Cachone Keys Bass/ e-bass Cello Acoustic guitar/ e-guitar Violin Saxophone (soprano, tenor, alto) Trumpet Trombone Accordion Surprise us!
