Casting Overview

Casting male actors for the theatre production "SONG FOR TYSO" by PETER KERRY, directed by Caroline Clegg and produced by the theatre company JB Shorts.

We welcome all applications that fit within the casting criteria who are based or local to the Greater Manchester area. We are especially seeking submissions from professional actors from diverse and inclusive backgrounds, this includes but not limited to, actors who are from the Global Majority, LGBTQ+ Identifying and are disabled.

REHEARSALS: From LATE AUGUST (approx. 6 x 3hr sessions)

TECH: SUN 21st SEPT

1st DRESS: MON 22nd SEPT, 7pm

TUES 23rd SEPT: NO PERF BUT POSSIBLE DAYTIME REHEARSALS IF REQUIRED

WEDS 24th SEPT: 2nd DRESS : 3pm

WEDS 24th SEPT: 7.30pm (Preview)

THURS 25th SEPT 7.30pm: PRESS NIGHT

RUN: WEDS 24th – 4th OCT, 7.30pm

MATINEES: SAT 27th, SUN 28th SEPT & SAT 4th OCT, 3pm.

Roles

Role: Gav / Dick

Gender: male

Playing Ages: 50–58

Languages: English

Roles Available:

GAV: A Drummer* and the former band’s ‘middle child’. Intellectual, very bright, articulate, a little nerdy. Middle class. Bit of a perfectionist with a tendency to procrastinate.

DICK: Bassist* in the band (four strings are easier than six, let’s face it) and the grown up. Sardonic, and a little camp. Also caring and protective of the others. Not so much out and ‘proud’ but more ‘out and doesn’t give a monkeys what anyone else thinks. More lower middle class than Gav. Perhaps more pragmatic and a realist than the others.
