Casting young actors (m/f) for a Self-Funded Coming-of-Age Short Film shooting in London.

 

This short film explores the confusing, embarrassing and often uncomfortable space between childhood and adulthood. It centres on a young couple (playing age 14-16) caught in that in-between stage — desperate to feel grown yet still surrounded by glitter-covered bedroom walls and the remains of childhood.

 

The story captures exaggerated, half-true conversations about sex, red spots on foreheads, bra straps hanging over vest tops as quiet markers of newfound womanhood, and boys beginning to see girls less as friends and more as something to strive toward. It examines the awkward performance of maturity — wanting to feel adult, sensual, and independent while your body, confidence and environment have not yet caught up. The tone is tender, edgy, and uncomfortably honest.

 

Inspired by Palo Alto and Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, the film combines naturalistic performances with a stylised yet grounded portrayal of youth and vulnerability.

 

 

About me: I'm Molly Sheridan  and I am a final-year Film student at Central Saint Martins. My work focuses on youth, identity and the subtle emotional shifts that define formative years. I am particularly drawn to stories that sit in uncomfortable, transitional spaces — where characters are trying to become something new but are not quite there yet. This project marks my first larger-scale production, and I am building a collaborative team of emerging creatives. I am committed to creating a safe, open working environment where actors feel supported in delivering honest, vulnerable performances.
