Casting Overview
The English Theatre Dusseldorf is casting for the upcoming Autumn production of the British classic, EDUCATING RITA by Willy Russell, to be directed by Ilya Parenteau.
Educating Rita is a witty yet poignant look at a working class woman’s attempts to change her social circumstances through pursuit of an Open University qualification.
Rehearsals: mid September/October in Düsseldorf; 10 performances in October.
Artist fee: 2,000 €
Extra information: If the actor is not local to Düsseldorf/surrounding area, single room occupancy can be provided. Travel expenses up to the value of 150€ will also be provided.
Deadline for submissions is 7th August 2022.
Roles
FRANK: a professor in his mid-fifties who takes on Rita as a student. Frank used to be a little-known but well-respected poet, but he stopped writing when his wife left him. In the years since, he has started drinking heavily and doubting the value of his role as an educator.
