Casting Overview
Casting for an art house style film. This is a 12-minute audio-visual project that aims to create a space of confrontation with the viewer, in which feelings of tension, unease, relief and ecstasy are simultaneously brought into dialogue. The intention is to demystify the social burden of language disorders by creating a new language and demanding new means of revelation and construction. In this we will explore 3 different forms language - body, music & vocal.
The film features the poem 'I speak' by Fariha Róisín, a Muslim queer Bangladeshi. She is interested in the margins, liminality, otherness, and the mercurial nature of being. Her work has pioneered a refreshing and renewed conversation about wellness, contemporary Islam, and queer identities.
Shooting in mid-Feb (tbc) in Paris, Île-de-France.

Roles
Role: Musician
any gender, 18–28 years, any appearance. Must be either a Cellist with their own Cello or a Double Bass player. Or someone who plays both. Ideally they are quite petite, the directors visual image is that it looks like a struggle to play their instrument due to it appearing 'too' big for them. We need extraordinary ears here who will be required to improvise some chaotic disjointed notes and phrases of music.

any gender, 18–28, with an authentic Stutter/Stamma.
*Production is NOT interested in people who can act having a stammer, this is not what they want.
Talent will be required to recite a poem called 'I speak'; it captures in it's contents the ebs and flows of the stuttering voice.

Role: Dancer/ Physical Theatre Performer
any gender, 18–30, an artist who can express themselves in isolated movement. They would perform chaotic, contained, random, robotic movements and tension. Perhaps this movement comes from one who can: Krump, Butoh, Bone Break Pina Bausch style or contemporary contortion dance Or they could be Physical Theatre performer who can tell a story through disjointed movement along with powerful dance skills.
