EUROPE: actors (m/f) 20-50, English spkrs, for Macbeth [P]
Casting Overview
English Theatre Düsseldorf (ETD) is currently casting for its upcoming open-air theatre production of William Shakespeare’s MACBETH, to be performed at the Kaiserpfalz Castle Ruins in Düsseldorf-Kaiserswerth, Germany in June 2023.
”In an alternate version of early 20th century Scotland, the war is over. King Duncan and Macbeth have triumphed, but the country is left on the brink of crisis. Duncan’s heir, Malcolm, proposes radical changes from the militaristic, autocratic system, so Macbeth, buoyed on by a supernatural prophecy and the political ambitions of his wife, takes matters into his own hands. This scenic new production of Shakespeare’s bloodiest tragedy draws on aesthetics and issues from Weimar Germany to explore ideas of succession, tyranny, and what happens when individual leaders place their own ambitions above the needs of the countries they are supposed to serve.”
As this will be an international production, we encourage Shakespeare trained professional actors from all over Europe to apply.
This production will be in English and therefore a fluency in Shakespeare’s English (accents embraced) OR mother-tongue English is a requirement.
