Casting Overview

Casting BOYISH, a short film (student production).

"BOYISH" is a drama about identity, loyalty, and the darker sides of adolescence. Lucas, a 16-year-old boy, struggles with bullying at his new school and an oppressive need to fit in. While his best friend, Oscar, offers genuine friendship and support, Lucas finds himself drawn to a group of older men led by Oliver. What starts as a refuge from his tormentors turns into a dangerous descent as Lucas is swept into their world, their toxic influence pushing him to betray those who truly care about him. The film explores themes of masculinity, vulnerability, and the heartbreaking costs of seeking acceptance in the wrong places.

For this project, we are prioritizing applicants who are either currently in acting school or have never acted before. As a student short film with a very small budget, we aim to create a space that welcomes fresh faces and emerging talent who are eager to bring their passion for storytelling to life. The director is particularly looking for individuals with enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine love for the craft of acting—even if this will be their first experience on set. While the conditions may not be the most comfortable, we are committed to fostering an environment that values collaboration, exploration, and growth for all involved.
