English-speaking actors (m/f), any age, for student production in Berlin
Casting Overview
Casting actors based in Berlin, for a Diploma film titled "Between Frames" — a project made up of multiple interconnected short films (vignettes) that all connect in theme and tone, exploring memory, agency, and identity.
This first vignette is called "House Rules" — a surreal, intense short about power, chance, and inevitability. Think Texas Hold’em meets Tarot meets a mythic showdown.
Logline: Four mysterious figures — Fate, Death, Justice, and Chance — play poker for the life of a woman locked in a basement. One move tips the balance. One rule is broken. The game ends in blood.
The other vignettes are still in development, so this will be a bit experimental. The bigger picture revolves around a near-death experience.
Filming will start around mid-August (exact dates tba) in Berlin.
This is a no-budget production, but the goal is to eventually pay everyone fairly. For now, the work is unpaid and passion-driven.
Roles
Various Roles Available:
🔹 LINH – the dealer. Calm, powerful, unreadable. Presence > dialogue. Linh is the one character who appears in every short film and is basically the protagonist of the whole project. So I need someone who’s flexible and ideally available until December (if everything goes according to plan).
NB: Though “Southeast Asian” is mentioned because Linh is a Vietnamese name, ethnicity is not essential.
🔹 CHANCE – wild energy, gambler vibe. Cocky and unpredictable.
🔹 JUSTICE – sharp, cynical, carries moral weight: lawyer meets vigilante.
🔹 FATE – cool, composed, dangerous in silence. Mephisto in a suit. Fate becomes especially important at the end.
🔹 DEATH – quiet, poetic, world-weary.
🔹 MARLA – prisoner in the cellar. Silent strength. No dialogue, emotionally intense performance.
