Casting ”Holy Name,” a new play that tells the story of a working-class family in 1960’s. It is written by Michael Eichler and has been performed in the US. It has since been adapted to a UK setting by writer Peter Hale. It is now set in London lower/middle class 1960.
Synopsis: The matriarch of the family is suffering from a mental illness which expresses itself in verbal abuse and physically-threatening behaviour. The men of the family – father and brothers devise a plan to get her treatment, but when it backfires it sends the family – especially youngest brother – into a deep psychological battle of determination vs. free will, family obligations vs. a happier life.”…the most deeply felt, high-stakes, well-paced script I had read all year.”
Rehearsals probably 7-8 sessions (lead) and 4-5 (supporting) and home learning; runs week of 29 April- 4 May at The Courtyard in London, and May 5 at Cockpit Theatre in London.
There is a flat rate of £285 for the lead roles and £150 for the supporting roles on completion of the project. There may be an additional discretional payment depending on the sales of the show but this is not guaranteed. In the event that the show gets cancelled the fee will be reduced to £70 for lead roles and £35 for supporting roles to cover expenses.
