Casting Overview
For a short film titled “Discontent” that will serve as a final project at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences.
The project is a social realist short film: When the workers at a graveyard go on strike in the late 1970ˋs a young gravedigger is torn between his own economic survival, the loyalty to his partner and colleagues and the moral dilemma between the individual or the common good.
Shooting in Salzburg one week between 01.-15.03.2023 and between 01.-15.06.2023. Exact dates to be announced later.
Expenses will be covered.
Due to the contents of the film, native English speakers with an English accent are preferred – especially those who have or can speak in a Liverpool accent. Still, actors from any background are encouraged to apply!
Roles
John is a young gravedigger struggling with his job - he is the protagonist of the film.

Charlie is a young gravedigger, and the protagonists boyfriend. He is an enthusiastic young man who hasn't lost the hope for change.

Anna, a nurse, and the protagonist's sister, supports the cause her brother and friends are fighting for - until she has to live with the repercussions herself.

Mr. Walsh is the supervisor at the graveyard. He is not supportive of the strikes and wants to convince everyone to come back to work - with whatever means it takes.

Tony is an older gravedigger who is concerned about the strikes and has long lost his hope for change.
