Bergerac
(1981)
Detective Sergeant Jim Bergerac of the Jersey Bureau des Étrangers returns to work following a period of rehabilitation for alcoholism, navigating both the demands of his new posting and a troubled personal life complicated by a difficult ex-wife and an overbearing wealthy father-in-law. In this pilot episode, he investigates a case on the island of Jersey that draws him into the world of wealthy residents and criminal activity. The story establishes the sun-drenched yet morally murky setting that would define the long-running series.
