DISTANT is a short dramatic film about love, desire, loyalty and the dangerous distance between who we believe we are and who we may actually be.
Synopsis: Lizzy has built her relationship with Mike around a long-distance romance sustained almost entirely through screens, promises and the hope that one day they will finally be together. But as Mike repeatedly postpones their meeting, Lizzy finds herself increasingly isolated and emotionally vulnerable. When her best friend Kira arrives at her apartment, what initially appears to be a simple confrontation between friends quickly reveals a much more complicated relationship. Kira's feelings for Lizzy are far from platonic, and she challenges everything Lizzy believes about her relationship with Mike — and about herself. Over the course of one night, Lizzy is forced to confront her desires, her choices and the consequences of trying to live between two different versions of love. The film explores emotional dependence, intimacy, betrayal, friendship, sexuality and self-discovery.
We are looking for three actors in their 20s who can bring emotional depth and authenticity to complicated relationships. Actors should be comfortable with:
Shoot location: Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Shoot dates: October 2026, approximately 2–4 shooting days.
Accommodation, travel expenses and food are covered by the production.
Roller
LIZZY - Female, 20s
The protagonist. A young woman deeply invested in her long-distance relationship with Mike. Lizzy is affectionate, sensitive and intelligent, but increasingly conflicted and emotionally vulnerable.
The role requires a strong emotional range, moving from playful romance and tenderness to anxiety, desire, guilt, shock, anger and profound emotional distress.
The script contains intimate/sexual material between Lizzy and Kira; any such scenes will be handled professionally and discussed clearly with actors in advance, with appropriate boundaries and consent throughout production.

KIRA - Female, 20s
Lizzy's best friend. Charismatic, affectionate, flirtatious and emotionally intense. Kira has strong romantic feelings for Lizzy and refuses to hide them. She can appear warm and playful one moment and manipulative, confrontational and deeply vulnerable the next.
The role requires an actor comfortable portraying complex emotional shifts.
The script contains intimate/sexual material between Kira and Lizzy; any such scenes will be handled professionally and discussed clearly with actors in advance, with appropriate boundaries and consent throughout production.

MIKE - Male, 20s
Lizzy's long-distance boyfriend. Charming, ambitious and confident, with a playful romantic side that contrasts with his controlling and demanding tendencies. Although most of Mike's performance is delivered through video calls and voice/audio, the character remains emotionally central to the story. The actor should be able to communicate affection, frustration, jealousy, vulnerability and emotional pain, often through subtle performance.
