Josef Mengele: Hunting a Nazi Criminal
(2017)
A documentary examining the decades-long international effort to track down SS physician Josef Mengele, notorious for his brutal medical experiments on prisoners at Auschwitz. The film traces the work of Nazi hunters, intelligence agencies, and journalists who pursued Mengele across South America, where he lived under various aliases following his escape from Europe after the Second World War. It explores why he evaded capture for so long and examines the circumstances surrounding his eventual identification after his death in Brazil in 1979.
