Former celebrity psychic Patrick Jane joins the California Bureau of Investigation as a consultant, using his sharp powers of observation and psychological insight to help solve crimes. His true driving motivation is to track down a serial killer known as Red John, who murdered his wife and daughter after Jane publicly mocked him on television. Each episode balances standalone case investigations with the overarching Red John storyline threading through the series.
