Two people meet on the night of their university graduation in Edinburgh and spend a single day together, forming an intense but unresolved connection. The series then revisits them on the same date — the 15th of July — each year across two decades, charting how their lives diverge and intertwine as friendship, longing, and circumstance pull them in different directions. Adapted from David Nicholls' novel, the story follows Emma and Dexter as they each pursue careers, relationships, and self-understanding, always haunted by what they might mean to one another.
