Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell

Two English magicians attempt to restore magic to Britain during the Napoleonic Wars era, but their partnership becomes strained as their methods and ambitions diverge. Mr Norrell is a cautious, bookish recluse who jealously guards magical knowledge, whilst the talented and daring Jonathan Strange proves a far more adventurous pupil than his mentor anticipated. Their conflict deepens when a mischievous supernatural being known as the Gentleman with the Thistle-Down Hair begins to meddle in human affairs, placing those they love in terrible danger.
