A lavish Austrian television series following the early life of Elisabeth of Bavaria, known as Sisi, who unexpectedly becomes engaged to Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria despite her older sister being the intended match. The story charts her difficult adjustment to the suffocating protocols of the Habsburg court and her struggles to preserve her own identity and freedom within an arranged royal life. Romantic and dramatic in tone, the series reimagines the iconic empress as a spirited young woman resisting the constraints placed upon her.
