A Spanish historical drama series following the life of Charles I of Spain — also Holy Roman Emperor Charles V — from his arrival in Spain as a young foreign-born ruler struggling to win the loyalty of his new subjects, through the political intrigues, wars and dynastic rivalries that shaped his reign. The series explores his relationships with key figures at court, his conflicts with the Ottoman Empire and French crown, and the personal costs of wielding power across a vast European empire.
