A retired Munich detective visiting Salzburg finds himself drawn into a murder investigation when a local man is found dead under suspicious circumstances. Working alongside an Austrian police inspector — despite considerable professional friction between them — he helps unravel a case with roots in the city's affluent social circles. The unlikely partnership gradually yields results as the two men piece together the victim's secrets and expose the killer.
