She's Gotta Have It

A young Black woman living in Brooklyn refuses to commit exclusively to any one of the three very different men who are competing for her affections. The film follows her assertion of sexual and personal autonomy as each suitor attempts to persuade her to choose him alone. Shot largely in black and white, it established Spike Lee as a distinctive new voice in American independent cinema.
