A fictionalised portrayal of Silvio Berlusconi during a period of political decline, focusing on the flamboyant world of hangers-on, opportunists and socialites who orbit him in search of wealth and influence. A young Sardinian businessman attempts to use lavish parties and beautiful women as a means of gaining access to the former Italian prime minister. The film examines vanity, power and the seductive corruption of the Italian ruling class through Sorrentino's characteristically lush and sardonic visual style.
