Finnish artist Tove Jansson navigates the turbulent years following the Second World War as she strives to establish herself as a serious painter whilst grappling with her identity and desires. She pursues passionate relationships with both a married politician and a charismatic theatre director, the latter helping her embrace her true self. It is during this period of personal and artistic searching that she creates the beloved Moomin characters, which would eventually bring her worldwide fame.
