A fastidious Englishman travelling by train across Europe finds his journey increasingly disrupted when an overbearing elderly Austrian woman commandeers his reserved seat and refuses to leave him in peace. What begins as a battle of wills over social niceties gradually reveals deeper tensions around class, nationality, and personal boundaries. The television play builds to a confrontation that exposes the fragility of civilised behaviour under pressure.
