A desperate man takes his ex-partner hostage and forces her into a car, demanding to be driven across Sweden so he can see his young daughter. A police officer joins them in an attempt to manage the situation and prevent it from escalating, becoming an unlikely mediator between the two. As the journey unfolds, the fractured history between the former couple is gradually revealed, complicating any straightforward sense of who is right or wrong.
