A Bavarian mayor finds his quiet rural community upended when a group of asylum seekers arrives, forcing him to juggle political pressures, personal ambitions and the prejudices of local residents. The series takes a darkly comic look at small-town German politics and the tensions that arise when bureaucracy collides with human need. As the mayor attempts to manage the situation to his own advantage, his schemes repeatedly backfire in ways that expose the hypocrisy beneath the surface of community life.
