A ONI agent named Jameson Locke and a group of soldiers find themselves stranded on a deadly fragment of a Halo ring, where a lethal parasite makes survival nearly impossible. As resources dwindle and tensions rise, the team must confront both the alien threat and their own moral limits to find a way off the hostile terrain. The story serves as an introduction to Locke as a character ahead of his prominent role in the broader Halo universe.
