A young BBC news programme struggles to establish itself in 1950s London against a backdrop of Cold War paranoia and establishment secrets. Producer Bel Rowley, ambitious reporter Freddie Lyon, and polished presenter Hector Madden form an uneasy triangle of professional rivalry and personal entanglement. As the team pursues stories that powerful figures would prefer to suppress, they find themselves drawn into genuinely dangerous territory involving espionage and murder.
